One of the least noticed aspects of the NYC street lies beneath your feet, or underneath the tires of your car.

I’m talking about manhole covers on pavements and roads: the only visible signs of the vast infrastructure of wiring, piping and sewers that keep the city illumined, dry and clean.

This is a celebration of “The Works” – Gas, Electricity, Water, Sewers, Drainage, telco.
