#92 People

I never set out to take pictures of people for this project. My goal was to capture the street proper – to imagine the life of the street, independent of people. Kinda like how the Toy Story movies imagine the life of toys when people are away.

That’s just silly of course.  Because as we all know, the street and all its attendant features, fixtures and ephemera, would not exist if there weren’t people there in the first place. And so people kept cropping up accidentally in my photos.

Many of these shots remind me of Chinese landscape paintings, where a tiny human figure is engulfed but never overwhelmed by epic scenery.
